Victory Over Death

Death is Conquered, the Victory Secure

Because God’s children are human beings—made of flesh and blood—the Son also became flesh and blood. For only as a human being could he die, and only by dying could he break the power of the devil, who had the power of death. Only in this way could he set free all who have lived their lives as slaves to the fear of dying (Heb. 2:14-15 NLT).

Jesus shared our humanity completely. Temptation was not far from him and yet he never sinned. Death he tasted, but not for Himself… In fact he had no reason to die because He was “without sin…” (2 Cor. 5:21) The only reason Christ died was for the sake of humanity. God’s judgement rested upon humanity heavily and could not be averted. Sin had to be punished by death; blood had to be shed, in order to appease the righteousness of God. Jesus satisfied that requirement through dying a “sinless” death.

Eternal separation - was the verdict passed against humanity – but Jesus appealed on the grounds of His blood and won the case – which will never be overturned! Therefore the fear of death has no more power over us and infirmity no longer a foot hold.
Isaiah prophesied Jesus’ victory over disease and sickness, “He Himself took [in order to carry away] our weaknesses and infirmities and bore away our diseases” (Matt. 8:17 AMP).

In Matthew chapter 4 verse 24 it says that Jesus healed all who were brought to Him. The condition of our spirit, soul and body are of importance to God (1 Thess. 5:23). Jesus took our sin to the cross but also our infirmities and diseases“…by his wounds we are healed” (Isaiah 53:5).

John 4:34 says that Jesus came to do the will of the Father “…to do the will of Him who sent me…” and it is the Father’s will for us to be saved, healed and receive every spiritual blessing (Eph 1:3-14). Because of this, Jesus did all that was necessary to see His Father’s will accomplished; even declaring from the cross, “It is finished….” (John 19:30).

The work of the cross is complete. Jesus has risen for us. When all was accomplished, Jesus ascended to His Father’s side. But not to close his work! It continues still. He lives forever to minister in the presence of God on our behalf, interceding for us continually, “Who is there to condemn [us]? Will Christ Jesus (the Messiah), Who died, or rather Who was raised from the dead, Who is at the right hand of God actually pleading as He intercedes for us?” (Romans 8:34 AMP)

And when God the Father sees Jesus He also sees us, because we are “…seated in heavenly places in Christ Jesus” (Eph 2:6). Moreover each time He sees us He should see Christ! We have been reconciled; there is no longer any separation. “Can anything ever separate us from Christ’s love? Does it mean he no longer loves us if we have trouble or calamity, or are persecuted, or hungry, or destitute, or in danger, or threatened with death? (As the Scriptures say, “For your sake we are killed every day; we are being slaughtered like sheep.”) No, despite all these things, overwhelming victory is ours through Christ, who loved us.” (Rom 8:35 NLT)

Therefore God the Father always sees us TOGETHER! Under the blood, nothing can separate us! When He looks upon us, He not only sees Christ but also covenant. And if Christ is continually before the Father interceding, then technically so are we! Because we are IN CHRIST JESUS!

That’s why in Romans 8:1 it says that the only ones who are free from condemnation are those who are IN CHRIST JESUS. Sadly those who are living in condemnation [flesh] cannot stand before the throne of God. It is only those who are IN CHRIST JESUS and who are living “…according to the Spirit” that can stand fearless before God.

Take some time to pause and calmly think about what is being said here, (“salah” measure, weigh up). Outside of Christ we used to look like sin but now we are in Christ we no longer look like sin – before the Father we actually look like Jesus!

Father I rejoice in the truth of reconciliation; in my togetherness with Christ, NOTHING can separate me from His love! Death has been conquered; I have a weighty victory through Christ. Now I can live without any condemnation by living through Him and by His Holy Spirit. Help me Father to use this freedom for Your glory and not just for self gain. To use this access that has been granted me, to fill the gap by praying those things that are on Your heart and for those who need intercession the most.

Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves; ensure justice for those being crushed. Yes, speak up for the poor and helpless, and see that they get justice (Prov. 31: 8-9 NLT).

Today my confession is this: I am reconciled to God through Christ Jesus. The covenant that was ratified for my sake is an everlasting covenant. The bible was written along covenant lines and now my life also has been authorized along those same lines. I was technically a spiritual outlaw until Jesus validated me and made me a legitimate child of God. Now when He sees Christ, He also sees me. I AM IN CHRIST JESUS.
